The publication of Karl Kühner is the beginning
of the scientific research about the secret of the Dark Countess. He was the
son of the pastor Heinrich Kühner and so an eyewitness of the events in
Eishausen. He can give a good impression of the daily life of the Dark
Countess and L.C. van der Valck and describes the valets and their tasks.
His father Heinrich Kühner kept the contact with the Dark Count and so Karl Kühner
can give important information about the character and interests of him. A
lot of information he got from the Counts former cook Johanna Weber and
from the widow Kühner (his Mother) who corresponded with the Dark Count
too. For the first time, Kühner mentioned the possibility the Dark
Countess of Hildburghausen could be the Marie Thérèse
Charlotte of France, Madame Royale.
